The Centralised Medical Internship Application and Allocation Process

Provisional offers will continue to be sent until the National Intern Recruitment closes on Friday 16 October 2026.

Allocation are made via a ballot and in line with the Category Groups, as outlined in the Guideline. Intern allocations are dependent on the number of positions available at each LHN.

After the initial rounds, provisional offers will be made as positions become available due to applicants declining their offers / withdrawing their acceptance.

South Australia takes part in the National Audit of Intern Acceptances and Unplaced Applicants, which identifies applicants who are holding multiple intern acceptances across Australia.

Applicants who have accepted more than one intern position will be contacted by the National Audit Data Manager. These applicants are then asked to withdraw from all intern positions, except the one that they intend to undertake for their intern year.
