About the Program

The Adelaide Hills Inpatient Unit is a collegiate multidisciplinary General Medicine Inpatient team consisting of Rural Generalists, General Physicians and Sub Specialist Physicians. Our team delivers care to inpatients across three campuses with patients admitted to our central site of Mt Barker Hospital and when appropriate transferred to our satellite sites in Strathalbyn and Gumeracha Hospitals.

A placement with us provides the appropriate exposure for a trainee medical officer to meet the requirements of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) for an extended skills term in internal medicine.

Junior doctors in this term will have the opportunity to provide day to day inpatient care as part of a multi-disciplinary team. In addition, trainee medical officers will have the opportunity to be involved in supporting an outpatient and short stay infusion unit providing chemotherapy, pharmacological and blood / iron infusions within our medical unit.
