About the Program

This program is designed for Trainee Medical Officers (TMOs) at PGY2 level and above, offering broad clinical experience to support progression toward a Rural Generalist career.

Rotations are available through the Rural Generalist and General Training pathways, including Emergency, General Practice (with Anaesthetics, Emergency, or Obstetrics), Medicine Inpatients, General Surgery, and Emergency/Radiology.

The position can be undertaken as part of Rural Generalist training with either ACRRM or RACGP. Preference will be given to applicants committed to a career in rural and remote practice across primary care, hospital settings, or a combination of both.

Rotations at EFNLHN

The rotations of the Eyre and Far North Local Health Network are designed to provide a range of clinical experiences that are high quality and truly representational of rural medicine.

Each trainee will rotate through a combination of the following rotations:

  • Emergency – Port Lincoln Hospital and Health Service
  • Medical Inpatients Port Lincoln Hospital and Health Service
  • General Surgery – Port Lincoln Hospital and Health Service
  • Emergency / Radiology – Port Lincoln Health Service
  • Rural Generalism – Ceduna
  • Rural Generalism – Tumby Bay
  • General Practice / Emergency – Cummins
  • General Practice / Anaesthetics Port Lincoln (Boston Bay Family Health) & Lincoln Medical Centre
  • General Practice / Obstetrics – Port Lincoln (Boston Bay Family Health) & Lincoln Medical Centre
  • General Practice / Aged Care / ED – Port Lincoln (Investigator Clinic)
  • Aboriginal Health – Port Lincoln (Port Lincoln Aboriginal Health Service)

Accommodation and travel assistance is provided for the first 12 months of employment.
